Our History
Here at ATX Steel LLC and ATX Crane LLC, we continue to be in the steel business in the exact location where the original owner, Walter Tips, owned and operated Tips Iron & Steel Co. in 1899; and we have a direct ownership lineage to Mr. Tips and Tips Iron & Steel Co. There is a lot of history here, of which we are very proud. The short version of this history is that the Tips family sold the company to A.C. Goeth in the 1920’s, and the Goeth family ran it with great success until some difficulty started in the 1990’s. So, in the late 90’s, Steve Wimberly acquired Tips Iron & Steel Co. and returned it to profitability. In the 2000’s Mr. Wimberly partnered with the late Bill Jett to create Jett Enterprises of Texas, LLC, which became the steel fab and erect entity at the Tips location. With an eye to the future, just this year Mr. Wimberly re-branded Jett Enterprises to be what we are now – ATX Steel LLC. Also, just this year he created ATX Crane LLC. Mr. Wimberly and the rest or our team have positioned ATX Steel, as well as ATX Crane, to offer tremendous value to our customers. Because of this, ATX Steel and ATX Crane are sure to grow and endure as Wimberly family entities for many years to come. Thank you to all past and present customers, employees, suppliers, and everyone else who has been a part.
